Arrigetch 'Fingers of the Outstretched Hand'
Arrigetch is from the Inupiat language meaning 'fingers of the outstretched hand.' These mountains, located in the Gates of the Arctic National Park, requires a journey of a lifetime and is no small feat. I had planned the visit for three years. The trip consisted of 4 barrels (bear proof) of freeze dried food, firearms, bear spray, bug spray, expedition gear, a plane ticket to Bettles, AK, another via float plane to Horseshoe Lake to then begin a trek that lasted five days. The story behind capturing this image not only involves the journey to but a trip home that has left an impression on my life that won't be forgotten.
Mountains seen in this photograph are (left to right) Elephants Tooth, Xanadu, Arial, and Caliban.
Purchasing a print sponsors my work and supports my family of four 😊
