The High One Sleeps
I waited patiently observing Mt. Denali in its early morning slumber. I figured it was near 28 degrees fahrenheit as the water was patched with ice. I had woken before day break and looking to the north I saw clouds pushing towards the mountains. Saying a quick prayer, I got some breakfast together and ate in a rush. I was excited to see how clear and crisp the air was and knew that if those clouds did not push in I was in for a treat! I packed my gear to the lakes edge. Wonder Lake, what a beautiful gem to be found at the foot of this majestic scene. With my camera practically on the ground I setup just shy of being in the water. Another photographer later approached the area. Greeting him, and starting up conversation I learned it was his first time in Alaska. I made the comment that what we were witnessing would be the highlight of his trip. As to this day it is the highlight of my portfolio.
